Safety: Kids, Pets and Wildlife

Yes, our products are child and pet-friendly when used as directed.

We recommend keeping kids and pets off the lawn while the treatment is being applied and until it’s fully dry. After that, it’s safe for them to enjoy the garden again!

It’s best not to treat any part of your lawn where grazing pets like rabbits, guinea pigs, or tortoises feed. Even after watering in, as there’s a risk they could ingest fertiliser.

Getting Started

You can start iGrow Carpet fertiliser at any time of the year.

Please see our “measure your lawn” app. https://www.measure.igrowcarpet.co.uk

Yes! All our iGrow Carpet products are designed to work on every type of lawn Clay, sandy, or anything in between. You might see some companies say their fertiliser is “best for clay” or “made for sandy soil,” but honestly, that’s mostly a marketing thing. The truth is, a balanced, slow or controlled-release feed works well on all soils. The real key is using the right amount at the right time - leave the rest to us!

Feeding and Timing

Roughly every 8-10 weeks for consistently healthy grass.

If you feed a bit early, you might need to mow sooner than planned. But no sooner than 8 weeks if you are using the Spring, Summer or Autumn.

The pre-seeder fertiliser lasts around 5-6 weeks. It’s best to wait at least 6 weeks, before treating again.

If you’re a couple of weeks late, you might notice the grass looking slightly paler or growing more slowly, but once you feed at the next opportunity it’ll bounce right back.

Our programme is designed to work in partnership with your lawn, perfect for busy people who still want a lovely, hassle-free carpet like lawn.

You can fertilise on the same day as mowing, following some simple rules.

Make sure you mow before you feed (not after). If you mow afterwards, you’ll end up hoovering up some of the fertiliser and possibly damaging the fertiliser.

If your lawn’s got a lot of weeds, don’t mow for three days before treatment, then wait another three days afterwards.

In the summer months or if it's hot, feed your lawn early to mid-morning or late afternoon/evening (during daylight). If temperatures hit 21 °C or above, wait until it cools down to avoid scorching the grass.

Application and Aftercare

Yes, but avoid soggy or waterlogged ground.

Damp is fine—it actually helps the fertiliser absorb, if you can keep the fertiliser in the spreader dry.

Don’t feed it in torrential rain as this may wash it away.

Or, if heavy rain is forecast and your lawn is prone to puddling.

Yes. Watering helps prevent scorch. It will also help it work faster. For best results, water your lawn on the same day as application or within the next 48 hours. The sooner it is watered, the faster you will see the results. We recommend a sprinkler for this.

Usually 7–10 days. Some products work faster than others.

Yes, but it’s best to water it in first.

We recommend 25- 35 g per m². If you’re using our Measure Your Lawn app, we aim for 30 g per m². That gives plenty of room for error.

If you go outside this slightly, it won’t usually harm your lawn (provided you water it in properly); it’ll just waste product.

But over-applying fertiliser, can scorch grass.

We can’t accept liability for any damage caused by rates above our recommendation, so it’s best to stick close to the guide.

How-To and Special Cases

We always recommend that you apply iGrow Carpet granular fertiliser with a fertiliser spreader. Please watch our videos on different types of spreaders. *Link

No, you don’t need to water in soluble iron after spraying. Once it’s applied and the leaves have had time to dry, you’re good to go. In fact, letting it sit on the grass blades helps it work better.

Yes you can apply this when the lawn is damp or even wet, and it will still work. Many people spray iron in the rain or on a wet lawn, especially for blackening the moss as it help it soak down.

No, you don’t need to water it in. For best results, spray liquid seaweed onto the lawn and let it dry on the leaves - this allows the grass to absorb all the nutrients.

Don’t worry if it rains after you spray liquid seaweed - some will be washed off the leaves, but it’ll soak into the soil and feed the roots instead. The nutrients won’t go to waste; your lawn will still benefit, just in a different way.

Our advice is the same as mowing: unless there is a high amount of weeds in the lawn, it is safe to do this. If there is a lot of weeds in the lawn, then leave 3 days either side of the treatment to stop scorching.

Our Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and preseeder are iron free and don’t stain, but it’s always best practise to brush off or blow etc any of the fertiliser on the hard surfaces such as driveways and patios etc.

Our iron-based products WILL stain hard surfaces so avoid this.

We have a very friendly and active community on Facebook with over 10,000 people who love talking about their lawns and sharing tips and tricks.

Check out the learning hub as there is usually at least one video that will answer your question on there.

If your unsure of how much fertiliser you need, use the measure your lawn ap. If your lawn isn’t on there we have guides on how to measure your lawn. *link
